#GivingTuesday is touted as a “global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.”

Since #GivingTuesday is the most prominent digital fundraising event of the year (It raised $2.47 Billion in 2020!), nonprofits are making it a key component of their annual fundraising strategy.

So WHY should we get in on #GivingTuesday?

Here are THREE reasons why your nonprofit should take part:

  • Timing.
Like Thanksgiving, GivingTuesday kicks off the Season of Giving. Since almost a third of all giving happens in December, it’s the perfect time to
Begin your drive for end-of-calendar-year gifts.  Your donors will be moved by the spirit of the season and, of course, the charitable giving tax deductions.

  • Momentum.
Nonprofits use GivingTuesday to communicate their message across multiple social media platforms.  That broad reach creates a wave of giving momentum that your organization can ride through December and beyond.
  • Awareness.
GivingTuesday gets a broad audience ready to hear from nonprofits. It’s an excellent opportunity to tell the story and impact of your cause–you’ll expand your reach and make future fundraising easier.
